Get Ready: Winterfest 2023 is Almost Here!

Did you know that Winterfest 2023 is almost upon us? Wondering what Winterfest is? Keep reading to learn more about this fantastic event and what you can expect from Winterfest 2023!

What is Winterfest?

As March creeps closer, everyone’s favorite winter event in Westbrook also grows closer. Winterfest began as an idea from Discover Downtown Westbrook to provide the community with a fun winter event without relying on the weather to host it.

After all, what’s worse than looking forward to an event and then it got canceled due to snow or bad weather? Instead, Winterfest combines many things that people love most about Westbrook’s immensely popular summer event and mixes it with some fun winter outdoor activities.

What to Expect from Winterfest this Year

Just as folks are getting weary of old man winter, Winterfest will bring the community and surrounding communities together again. You can climb Mt. Everest to the height of 35′ and slide through its tunnel.

Take a gander around this year’s new synthetic ice skating rink, or grab your free S’mores Kit and roast a yummy marshmallow in the belly of an artisan carved-out tree trunk. It could be a Snowman, or it could be the Grinch! One never knows what the creative artist John Stenquist will delight Winterfest attendees with!

At this year’s event, you’ll see plenty of your go-to’s, like a petting zoo, horse and wagon Rides, toddler inflatables, and a little live music. Winterfest performers will have the crowds mesmerized with the expert juggling of items like a ladder and fire batons by Steve Corning and even Fire Hoola Hooping by Amelia Aglow.

The Westbrook Fire Department and Police Department will show the crowds just how vital their work is, but on a scale, one might not even know. The Fire Department will enter the freezing cold waters of the Presumpscot River to demonstrate what a water rescue is all about.

The Police Department will demonstrate how much they rely on their intelligent and proud K9 officers. Don’t forget to find talented caricaturist Erica Golter to bring a piece of the Winterfest magic home with you all year!

Festivals are Better with Artisans and Food

Any festival, Winterfest included, is always so much more fun when you have artisans and food! Many local artists will sell their creations, from charcuterie boards to designer tumblers, stained glass pieces, loose-leaf tea, and so much more.

Need to get a gift for someone special? You’re sure to find that perfect item at Winterfest this year!

Everyone’s favorite food trucks will be around, like PB&ME, as well as Vagabond Coffee Truck and more! They will have many options for sale, including hamburgers, hotdogs, hot cocoa, coffee, protein bars, and more! You’re sure to work up an appetite with so many fun things to enjoy with your family, so make sure to partake in the deliciousness.

Get Ready to Have Fun!

One of the best parts of organizing events like this for the community is how much people enjoy them. It’s all about people’s smiles, laughter, and joy.

From toddlers to the elderly, you witness people enjoying themselves and having fun, which is what the spirit of Winterfest is all about. This event could not be possible without the hard work of the dedicated volunteers, committee members, Mayor Foley, Public Services, and our generous sponsors.

Winterfest is a FREE event for the community, so Discover Downtown Westbrook relies entirely on all mentioned to keep it going year after year.

Be sure to mark your calendar and print out the schedule. March 5th is right around the corner! Hope to see you all there.
