We are excited to announce that this year’s road race will feature a spooky theme! Dress as a monster or wear your best Halloween costume.
About Run the River
Our Run the River 5K, which brings runners through downtown Westbrook along our scenic Presumpscot River, is back again this year! Grab your friends, your family, your co-workers, and your dog, and join us in downtown Westbrook for this fun and family-friendly event!
Run the River is a 5K with a route that winds along the scenic Presumpscot River and through beautiful downtown Westbrook. This race features a 5K and a Canine 5K race!
Run the River is a benefit for Discover Downtown Westbrook, a nationally recognized Main Street Program whose mission is to make Westbrook a walkable, livable, thriving destination.

5k/Canine 5k Race Route
Kid’s Fun Run 1k Race Route
New this year- A Kid’s Fun Run 1k! Children ages 10 and under are encouraged to join this event for free. The race start will be at 8:30 am on October 27, near the American Legion building. The route will then go towards the eastern side of the park, travelling along the back road, along the riverwalk past Cornelia Warren field and make a U-turn at Fraser Field. Volunteers will be stationed here and along the way to help kids navigate the out-and-back course. The race ends exactly where it started. (Total course length about 1 kilometer or 0.75 miles.)
No need to register, just show up to the start line early.
