Westbrook Artists Celebrated and Supported by DDW Team
Throughout the year, Discover Downtown Westbrook (DDW) hosts local artwork in a small office gallery located at 816 Main Street. Every other month, the exhibit changes, allowing locals to explore the gallery with multiple forms of art several times a year.
We invite everyone to an Artist Open House to meet local artists, purchase art, and connect with DDW staff, board members, and volunteers. These gatherings feature complimentary food and drinks and are great opportunities for the community to celebrate the many talented artists in Westbrook.
Artists that have shown their work are listed below:
- Chad Creighton, Paintings
- Tim Lazimov, Salty Lens Photography
- Michael Shaughnessy and student artists
- Opal Robinson, Illustrations
- Jen Deraspe, Photography
- Abby Johnston: A Room Full of Hearts, Paintings & Illustrations
- Common Threads of Maine, Sewing & Textile Arts
Exhibits and Collaboration
April and May of 2023 featured an exhibit brought to you by designers from Common Threads of Maine, including the organization’s Co-Executive Director and Lead Sewing Instructor, Apphia Kamanda. The artist open house took place on May 15th.
Discover Downtown Westbrook is committed to supporting local businesses and artists. We are currently looking for local artists to participate in these open houses and exhibit work in the office.
Putting Together an Artist Directory
We are also looking to put together an artist directory which will be available on the City website and the DDW website. A printed version may be a project for the future with appropriate support and funding. This project serves as a resource for community members interested in arts and culture.
Artists that are interested in either showing their work or being listed in the artist directory should fill out the form below. The form will also allow DDW to pass along future opportunities to artists.
