Lighthouse Credit Union Named 2025 ‘Partner of the Year’ for Continued Support of Westbrook Common

Discover Downtown Westbrook Rolls out 2025 Summer Programming

WESTBROOK, MAINE, July 8 – For the third consecutive year, Lighthouse Credit Union has proudly renewed its role as the Founding Partner of Discover Downtown Westbrook’s (DDW) signature placemaking initiative: Westbrook Common.

This continued partnership with DDW and the City of Westbrook is centered on transforming public space into a vibrant, people-centered destination that promotes access to local businesses, community connection, and inclusive programming.

In recognition of this ongoing collaboration, Lighthouse Credit Union has been named Discover Downtown Westbrook’s 2025 Partner of the Year. The award citation reads:

“In recognition of your exceptional collaboration, steadfast support, and significant contributions to Discover Downtown Westbrook. Your commitment to our shared goals have made a profound impact on our mission and the community of Westbrook. Your contributions go beyond financial support to include strategic guidance, expertise sharing, resource mobilization, and innovative solutions that have significantly enhanced the development of the downtown. The Partner of the Year award recognizes exemplary leadership, dedication to collaboration, and commitment to making a meaningful difference in our community.”

As the Founding Partner, Lighthouse Credit Union’s support ensures that all programming and events at Westbrook Common remain free and accessible to the public. Their contributions make it possible for DDW to pay local musicians, artists, and instructors—bringing high-quality, inclusive experiences to downtown Westbrook.

Now in its third year, Westbrook Common has become a model for placemaking in Maine, following in the footsteps of similar nationally acclaimed efforts in Portland’s Congress Square Park and New York City’s Bryant Park. Designed to foster belonging, wellness, and cultural vibrancy, the project reimagines public space as a place where all community members feel welcome and connected.
