Light Up Westbrook is Back and Better than Ever

Thanksgiving is in the rearview mirror. Now, it’s time to look forward to end-of-the-year activities.

With all the “regular” stuff you need to get done before 2023 arrives, don’t forget to make some time for relaxation and fun. What better way than checking out the amazing lights throughout downtown Westbrook?

Holiday parties, year-end deadlines, and shopping ‘til you drop can all wait a little longer. Take a minute out of your busy day, including the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the holidays.

Take in the holiday lights and some of the beauty that Westbrook has to offer (and check some tasks off your list). Keep reading to find out why Light Up Westbrook is back and better than ever, and how you can support your local community this holiday season!

Public Works Rocks!

Westbrook’s reputation for being a holiday luminary delight remains firmly intact! Westbrook Public Works (led by Doug Eaton) really outdid themselves this year with expanded displays all along Main Street and throughout Riverbank Park.

There are more animated and larger displays this year, like the seals playing in Riverbank Park, penguins frolicking, and gorgeous arches. Other park visitors include moose, reindeer, a polar bear, and more. See if you can spot them all!  You’ll also see the beautiful Westbrook logo lit up in lights representing our city for all to see by Doug Eaton and his team.

Multitasking at Your Best

In case you think you’re losing valuable shopping time, think again. Along your journey, you can extend Small Business Saturday shopping by picking up gift cards from local businesses like Casa Novello, Shine Salon, and the Daily Grind.

Whether you’re grabbing a gift card, a quick meal, or simply meeting up with friends to catch up, your support is greatly supported by all the small businesses that call Westbrook home!

Keep walking and head over to the river boardwalk. The path by the river is brighter than ever and perfect for an evening stroll or early morning jog, and when you’re finished taking in the lights at this end, stop in and enjoy some tater tots at Blazes Burgers.

Just by exploring the city and enjoying the lights, you’ll get some free and easy outdoor exercise, wrap up that holiday gift shopping, and grab a delicious meal! Who knew supporting local and enjoying Light Up Westbrook could be so simple?

Best Christmas Trees Around

Even Portland knows how special Westbrook is: they came to our fair city for their Monument Square tree! But don’t worry because we have a beautiful tree of our own to enjoy.

Visit the Westbrook Common and witness the dazzling light display reminiscent of a retro tree from the 1970s complete with lights flickering in unison to make a dancing light show.

Westbrook is known as welcoming and fun, and our light display reflects both attributes. Whether you prefer to walk or ride, this year’s holiday lights have something for everyone of all ages.

There’s no better way to get (and stay!) in the holiday spirit than enjoying the festive lights! While you’re enjoying the lights, please consider supporting the many local businesses while you complete your holiday shopping, or just pick up a treat or two for yourself. Happy holidays!
